What Color Should Your USDOT Number Be?

We often get this question, so we thought we would address it.

Your USDOT Number must color contrast with the color of your vehicle. It must stand out. If you have a darker colored commercial vehicle your USDOT number should be light such as white, baby blue or any light color. If you have a light colored vehicle, your USDOT number should be dark, such as navy, black or dark gray.

Keep in mind that your USDOT number should be at least 2 inches and height and must be visible from a distance of at least 50 feet. A tip to keep in mind is that the larger the USDOT number the better. You want to make sure your regulations numbers are visible for authorities.
